Chief Chancellor of United Graduate College and Seminary (UGCS) and Hon. Ambassador-At-Large for the Republic of Burundi, Professor Clyde Rivers, Ph.D. has pioneered on-line distance learning around the world. His recent efforts have been aimed at the country of Kenya. A non-profit, 501-C3 Christian church organization based out of Shannon, North Carolina United Graduate College and Seminary specializes in non-traditional on-line Christian Education. Dr. Martin Wisor, Founder and President of the college and seminary, has a vision to reach untold numbers for the Glory of God. Little did he know that his programs would change a country’s education system. UGCS was one of the first schools from the United States to introduce on-line education to the country of Kenya. Recently in the country of Kenya, UGCS encountered controversy and criticism over the validity of on-line education. Though controversy came, the message was heard and months later the Minister of Education for the country of Kenya, William Rato, came out with a media release stating that he wanted all the universities in the country to pursue installing on-line education systems within their institutions.“It is great to see the country of Kenya moving into the relevant IT computer age,” states Prof. Rivers. “The battles that the United Graduate College and Seminary went through were worth it to see the birthing of the computer age in the Kenya education system. This will make Kenya a relevant player in the computerized global markets of the world. Being a pioneer has its challenges but is worth it in the end to see brilliant people receiving opportunities.
